Food & Fitness Advisor (Weill Cornell Medical College) June 2009 Newsletter |
Here are five proven ways that help you to start an exercise program. 1) Make it easily accessible. Find a gym, yoga or dance class that's close to where you live or work. 2) Choose an activity you like. Think about alternatives to traditional exercise such as hiking gardening, or walking dogs at your local animal shelter. 3) Set S.M.A.R.T. goals. "S" is for specific. "M" is for measureable. "A" is for achievabe. "R" is for realistic. And "T" is for time-sensitive. 4) Establish an exercise schedule. Use your current time management system to book your daily exercise session. And 5) Tune out your negative thoughts. Thinking positively about exercise really does work. |
